Curiosity and Oddities Collecting

Curiosity and Oddities

The Least You Should Know Series is about collecting anything, but this post is about collecting something entirely different. It’s still a passion for many a collector, but it’s not your run of the mill type Royal Doulton Figurines, or Tiffany Lamps. Some of you would find collecting beautiful China a little on the boring side. That’s why in this post is for you, it’s about Curiosity and Oddities Collecting. Let’s say this subject matter is a little out of the normal realm of, piggy bank collecting.

Curiosity and Oddities Collecting is Odd.

Gun control in the U.S.

Someone brought up an interesting topic “Is there gun control in the United States”. I spontaneously found myself saying, “what gun control? Do they have gun control in the U.S.?”. Do they?

The last time we gave guns a thought, was when the news media picked up stories of mass shootings in the United States or as a matter of fact, the gun violence that’s starting to show up in Canada.

As Canadians, it was always said, “What happens in the U.S. will eventually happen here.” The general census was 10 years behind.

SO WHAT GUN CONTROL in the U.S.

What always comes after a gun shooting in the U.S. is a public outcry for gun control. US presidents would stand at their podium with a concerned look on their faces and say, “We will look into the problem and let’s get these guns off our streets.” That must be a standard protocol speech that gets circulated around the White House. Some of the Presidents truly seemed  concerned, but they know not much  can be done.

Controlling the gun problem is to big to control

Controlling the gun problem is bigger and maybe, just a little out of their reach even for presidents.  It’s an entity that has taken its own course in history, like a runaway train, not to be stopped or even slowed down. Certainly it is not something that can be remedied overnight.  Even if the higher ups have the will power to take on such a task.

But you do have to wonder, what keeps the momentum going. Is it the peoples drive for guns and “more is better” attitude? Is it the mesmerizing power of holding a gun in your hand that binds a person to owning one? Or is it the Gun Advocacy groups that try and put a positive spin on owning guns, any guns, and the more the better, it’s for the good of your families?

time to move Meme

If I need an AK-47 to live here its time to move. MEME

Maybe it’s as simple as what George Washington said three hundred years back.

IT’S CALLED the 2nd AMENDMENT OF THE CONSTITUTION    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_politics_in_the_United_States

“A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.”  George Washington

BUT THAT WAS SO LONG AGO!

Americans were fighting the English back then. Washington wanted all the colony militia’s to be armed and ready, that made total sense, back then.

So gun control in the United States might just be a little out of reach for any kind of change.

When U.S. president came out and said he has the solution to the gun control problem in schools, all he said was “Let’s HAVE MORE GUNS” ( Arm the teachers is what he said ”)

One of two things could be true.

#1   Somebody higher ups must have monetary Interest in gun manufacturing, or

 # 2 The problem is so deep rooted, it’s in the DNA of all Americans and if that’s the case, it will take a long time to extract that from a person blood stream.

GUN LAW REFORM in the U.S.

Should and can the American government change the 2nd Amendment? Is it even possible? A 300 year old law, well, according to this web site (LIVE SCIENCE.COM), it is very well “POSSIBLE TO PROBABLE.”

It is  said the second amendment has emerged as a dubious target in the U.S. gun debate after a March 27 New York Times op-ed by former Justice John Paul Stevens suggested that repealing the amendment would be a “simple” way to move forward gun law reform.

A survey conducted in February by The Economist and You Gov found that 21 percent of Americans favor repealing the Second, which reads

“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

U.S PRESIDENT  TWEETED IN RESPONSE THAT “THE SECOND AMENDMENT WILL NEVER BE REPEALED,”

Make no mistake, there is big money in gun manufacturing and I don’t know if you would ever get an accurate dollar figure on how big a business it really is. So, what gun control?

The mentality of Gun Advocacy groups has this slogan,

THE GUN DOESN’T KILL, IT’S THE PERSON USING THE GUN THAT KILLS.

GUN CONTROL IN THE U.S., WHAT GUN CONTROL?
