Everybody is addicted to something, they’re just considered habits, hooked on something, anything.
It seems to be the brain getting tweaked, doing the same thing over and over and it seems to pick up speed in the sense it remembers you should be doing something, something you did a number of times before, like a natural body reminder.
Addictions habits I believe are the same, but different.
Everybody talks about being addicted to drinking, smoking, or drugs and going to the gym at the same time. We are regimented to take our medicine on time. (And that’s a good thing) Go to school on time, etc.
Our mind is easily trained and hooked.
When the addiction word comes up, it always refers to drinking, smoking, or drugs. But are you hooked on anything else? Sure, everybody is. That’s why they’re all habits and all habits can be broken.
So, scientists say it takes 21 days to break or make a habit. And I think that’s quite possible.

Sure smoking is addictive and hard to quit, everybody, doctors included, tells you it’s an addiction and could be treated with “other drugs” Then when you beat the habit, you find yourself saying, “but I sure like that stuff the doctor gave me. Can I have some more … I feel a craving coming on.”
I watch our cats. They are repetitious and they like routine. Are they addicted to waking you up at 6 am every morning? Do they watch that clock, can they even tell time? But they are on time every time. Are they addicted or just in a routine or are they habit freaks?
I’d like to think some of us are smarter.
I’d like to think that we are smarter than our cats and if it’s a habit, train your mind to think differently. It’s only a habit, remember the 21-day rule.
All companies spend big dollars to convince you their product is better and cheaper than the rest. Their strategy is for you to get used to their product and then you’ll keep buying more.
A few years back, car manufacturers came up with some interesting thinking. You will always go back to buying the FIRST original car you ever owned. So they target graduating college students to buy their brand of vehicle.
Only one stipulation, that they’ve never owned a car before and this is their very first one.
I, myself, try not to get into a habit, like having a cigarette after sex. The sex is ok, but the cigarettes have to go.
That’s a joke because I don’t smoke!
So I would like to think humans are smarter than a repetitious animals, as loving as they are, they are still routine/habit freaks.
We should be smarter than that, without exchanging one drug for another. Let’s all get with the program. If it’s not good for you, your body will tell you. Give it a good try and then just … change it.
So after saying that, Meet you at the coffee shop tomorrow at the same time, the same place as we always do. ……. “HABIT”
I’m not saying it’s easy to change some habits, but I would like to think we’re all smarter than our furry friends of ours.
